GOTTA DANCE
DERBY
Gotta Dance Derby was established in 2007 by Joanna Appleby, with the aim to provide the highest quality of Ballroom, Latin, and sequence dancing tuition. The school is based at Heatherton Haven Centre and Littleover Community School Dance Studio in Derby.
The school is open to all abilities and ages and aims for a fun atmosphere where our students can develop their skills and grow in confidence whilst acquiring poise, coordination and musicality.

Jo's dance career started at the age of six when she was enticed onto the dance for the first time. She went on to compete both nationally & internationally for over 20 years, reaching a high standard at Ballroom & Latin Championships.
Joanna qualified as a dance teacher with the Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) in 2006 and has continued to teach both adults and children, Ballroom and Latin American over the last 16 years.

Max began dancing at the age of six. First competing on the ISTD Medalist Circuit, achieving many finals and placing 1st at Blackpool ISTD Grand Final in 2012.
The buzz of competing drove him to compete on the Open Championship circuit when he moved up to Junior. He competed in both Ballroom & Latin Categories achieving many national finals and becoming a Champion at Champions of Tomorrow Blackpool in 2016.
With more than 16 years of competitive Ballroom and Latin experience, he has achieved many results including:
- Champions of Tomorrow Amateur Champion
- Stoke On Trent Festival Youth Champion
- 3 Counties Championship Amateur Champion
- Uk Closed Youth 7th Place
- British National Top 12
Max began teaching at Gotta Dance Derby in 2017 and aims to develop the quality and musicality of Ballroom and Latin dancing toward Gotta Dance Derby's students.
